Description
These gentle giants are classics! These wonderful USA tank-bred Emerald Green Brochis catfish are taxonomically named 'Brochis splendens' although this may be changing soon; genetic tests seem to indicate that 'Brochis' and 'Corydoras' are now scientifically synonymous. These fish are completely peaceful yet active in any aquarium, always found sifting through sand and gravel for morsels of food. In nature, they are very widespread throughout South America's Amazon basin in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. They gravitate in large numbers to small side tributaries coming off of larger rivers and prefer still blackwater environments, although they are also found in clear-water lakes and ponds. These fish are best kept in groups of 6 or more, and they will feed well on a variety of sinking foods such as sinking wafers, bloodworms and so on. Females of this species are much more round-bodied than are the males and these fish will readily spawn in your aquarium provided they have plenty of food and cover. These fish ship individually bagged, one fish per bag. Approximately 2 to 2.5 inches each.
