Description

The Sand’s Corydoras catfish hails from the whitewater area of the Rio Negro, Brazil known as the ‘Rio Uninin’ and is instantly recognizable thanks to the oblique dark bar along the dorsal region. This is not the only cory catfish to feature such a similar bar but it is among the most striking in appearance thanks to the well-defined border of this dark line.

Totally peaceful and ready to bring a real flair to your aquarium, these fish are great at keeping the bottom of your aquarium free of uneaten food. Please be aware that these fish are not algae eaters and they do require sinking foods to be given regularly at feeding time.

Provide hiding spots, such as caves or plants, to make them feel secure and reduce stress. Also be sure to maintain a stable temperature between 72°F and 78°F (22°C to 26°C) and ensure good water quality to keep these little fellows happy and healthy.

While Corydoras catfish are relatively small, they appreciate space to swim and explore. A tank of at least 20 gallons is recommended for a small group of Corydoras. Also remember that Corydoras catfish are social creatures, and they thrive best when kept in groups of at least six individuals. This helps alleviate stress and encourages natural schooling behavior.
