Just cleared from treatment in quarantine, we have a very rare treat on offer. From Peru we have imported these responsibly harvested and extremely rare Nannoptopoma sp. Robocop Catfish. There are several names they are known by, and one of them is the Nannoptopoma sp. Peru Orange. This name was given to them in tribute to their country of origin, Peru, and because fully grown males will develop an orange nose depending on their diet and overall vitality.
These are a type of Otocinclus catfish and are easily the rarest in the aquarium hobby. They are found in somewhat rapidly moving water stuck to rocks, leaves of plants, wood and stones. These are algae eating catfish of course, just like other Otocinclus catfish, and so they appreciate having plenty of algae to feed on and do best in clean water which has some movement and current to it. Some aquarists supplement their diet with blanched romaine lettuce and other vegetables, although we rely only on naturally-growing algae to feed our specimens.
These fish have not yet been bred in captivity and very little is known about them. They have also not yet been scientifically named, and you will find their very wild look with their zebra stripes and interesting shapes irresistible. Each specimen is approximately 1.25 inches each give or take, with a few smaller and a few larger. These fish ship individually bagged, one fish per bag.
