Cardinal Sulawesi shrimp belong to the family Atyidae and have become very popular within the aquarium hobby. Their unique appearance and popularity have earned it a place of distinction among aquatic enthusiasts.

These shrimp are indigenous to the lakes and rivers of Sulawesi, an island in Indonesia. These pristine freshwater habitats are characterized by stable water conditions, with TDS no more than 150, yet alkaline water having a pH ranging from 7.8 to 8.2. The species thrives in areas with rocky substrates and an abundance of aquatic vegetation.

Cardinal Sulawesi shrimp are renowned for their vibrant red and white coloration, which varies in intensity and pattern. Their bodies are brilliantly red and they are covered in small white spots. Their antenna are white as are their front legs, which gives them a unique appearance. These shrimp are relatively small, with adults typically reaching sizes of about 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 3.8 centimeters).

In the aquarium, Caridina dennerli exhibit peaceful behavior, making them suitable for community setups with other peaceful tankmates.
