Agassiz’s Triple Red Dwarf Cichlid (Apistogramma agassizii var. Triple Red) is a beautifully compact freshwater fish, selectively bred from the wild-form fish native to the Marañón and Ucayali Rivers in Peru and various tributaries of the Amazon Basin. In captivity it is available in many selectively bred colour morphs, one of the most striking being the triple-red variety, which emphasises intense red or orange finnage on top of its natural patterning.

In the triple-red morph the males often display a metallic blue or bluish-green body, with a typical lateral line as seen in other Apistogramma species. Their dorsal, caudal and anal fins carry the vivid red or fiery orange hues that give the variant its name. The females of this form are significantly different in appearance: they typically adopt a yellowish body tone, with modest fin colouration compared to the males.

These fish make a standout choice for aquarists seeking a showpiece species in a planted or richly structured aquarium environment. Although more easily maintained than many Apistogramma, they benefit from hiding spots, moderate water movement, and layers of leaf litter or caves to mimic their natural habitat. With proper care they are active, engaging additions that display vibrant colour and the charm of a dwarf cichlid species. This fish ships individually bagged, one fish per bag.
