Description

Hailing from the Orinoco watershed, particularly in that of Colombia and Venezuela, we have imported these elegant and softly blue tetras known commonly as the Purple Rio Metae Tetra. Formally coined 'Hyphessobrycon metae' these fish are very widespread throughout the entire basin but are difficult to locate and capture due to their soft pastel colors and their highly migratory nature. The fish are very mildly blue/purple in tint and sport the silvery reflective features of most other Characins. They are also a very peaceful yet somewhat shy species, preferring diffuse, soft lighting and the safety of closer quarters and pant cover. These are particularly suited to nano aquascape aquariums because the fish seem to prefer to have plenty of plant cover and don't need a ton of free space. Always peaceful, these fish should be kept in groups of at least six fish, even in small aquariums, and should never be paired with any sort of aggressive or predatory fish. This is a schooling/shoaling fish and does not ship individually bagged.

Warranty Information

All Live Fish are delivered via UPS Next Day Air and are covered by our DOA Protection Guarantee with the following terms - - (1) All orders containing Live Animals must be opened immediately without any delay after receipt (2) Live Fish deliveries must be accepted during the first delivery attempt (3) Live Fish deliveries must be made to the delivery address in your order; re-routed orders are not covered by any warranty (4) In the unlikely event that a fish has died during shipping to your address, you must inform us within two hours of receipt of your order (5) In the unlikely event that a D.O.A. fish is received in your order, it must be photographed while still sealed in the bag that it was shipped to you in (6) After reporting the D.O.A. to us within two hours of order receipt, we will respond within 24 hours and request that you email us the photograph of the D.O.A. fish (7) Refunds for D.O.A. livestock are made in the form of store credit directly to your customer account
