Description
The three-striped dwarf cichlid is an impressively adorned Apistogramma wrapped in a cloak of metallic blue and with a mask often mottled in red, sometimes with dusky green background. Of course keeping in line with its name, there are three distinct black stripes that start on the fish's mask and are usually easy to see, despite the intense shiny blue coloration. This fish is found across an impressive area of South America; specimens have been collected from Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina respectively. Most aquarists seeking to breed this fish prefer to purchase two females along with each male, because the males of this species can be rather picky about choosing a mate. If a male rejects an offered female, it is not uncommon for the male to attempt to drive the rejected female out of the tank completely, so please be on the lookout for this behavior. Should this begin, you should promptly remove the female and re-home her in another aquarium. This fish ships individually bagged, one fish per bag.
