Description
The metallic blue 'Opal Umbrella' Borellii Dwarf Cichlid has long been a nano favorite amongst Apistogramma fans due to its shiny blue hue and massive yellow cape-like fins, its diminutive size, and the mild, gentle nature of this fish. They are South American and are primarily found in the Paraguay and Paraná Rivers and occur in nature further South than other Apistogramma species. It is thus true that these fish can typically withstand slightly lower, cooler temperatures than other Apistogramma can. These teeny fellows are somewhat social for Apistogramma and it is easy to keep a number of them in a 20 gallon aquarium, provided there are caves for them to reside in. Apistogramma borellii do particularly well when kept in planted tanks, and they never bother any of the vegetation so you need not worry for your plants' safety. These fish will feed primarily on small crustaceans and insects found in the water column, but the wonderful fish that we have on offer are already well suited to eating flake food and other human-prepared commercial foods. This fish ships individually bagged, one fish per bag.
