Description
From the blackwater streams, pools, and rivers of the Kalimantan Tengah and Kalimantan Selatan comes a tiny bejeweled fish that has truly taken a kingly place in all freshwater aquaria dedicated to nano species: The Chili Rasbora (Boraras brigittae). Sometimes commonly called the Mosquito Rasbora, there is nothing common about this fish. It ranges from a soft pink-orange color to chili-red and has an interesting long black mark for a lateral line. This irregularly shaped black mark is edged in bright ruby-gold. These fish are found in very soft water that is colored from tannin and decaying organic matter. These waters naturally conceal the brightly-colored nano fish, who would otherwise become prey rather quickly. As such, these fish should not be placed in any aquariums with larger, aggressive, or predatory fish. These fish are also shoaling fish, so keeping them in a group of at least 6 will keep them much happier and more lively to boot. These fish do very well on crushed flake food and truly go crazy for a weekly treat of freshly hatched baby brine shrimp. This fish does not ship individually-bagged.
