Description
The Agassiz Dwarf Cichlid is a diminutive species of freshwater fish naturally found in the Maranon and Ucayali Rivers in Peru, as well as other various tributaries of the Amazon River. These fish are even found downstream further from this point, all the way to the Atlantic. It is named after the Louis Agassiz (1807–1873), a Swiss-American Zoologist. These fish are of the well-known triple-red color variety, which was created by selectively breeding specimens which displayed desired traits. The males of this color variety are an intense metallic blue-bodied fish with a lateral line typical for other Apistogramma species, but they also sport three colored fins: The dorsal, caudal and anal fins of the males range from a soft orange hue to an intense fiery red color. Of course, the females are not blue at all and eventually adopt a yellow color which is also very typical for Apistogramma females, however the females do have some color on their fins as well, but not as much as the males do of course. This fish ships individually bagged, one fish per bag.
