Description
The Salt and Pepper Corydoras Catfish (Corydoras habrosus) is a peaceful, tiny fish native to the Upper Orinoco River basin in Venezuela and Colombia. In the wild, they thrive in slow-moving waters like lagoons and streams within flooded plains, seeking cover among dense vegetation, leaf litter, and roots. When keeping them in an aquarium, recreating these conditions is crucial for their well-being. A minimum 10-gallon tank is recommended for a small school of at least six individuals. The substrate should be fine sand or smooth gravel to best recreate their natural environment. Provide ample hiding spots with driftwood, plants, and other decorations. They are omnivores, readily accepting high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, and frozen or live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. Ensure food reaches the bottom for them to forage. Maintain stable water parameters: temperature between 70-78°F (20-26°C), pH 6-8, and soft to moderately hard water. Regular water changes and efficient filtration are important. They are compatible with peaceful community fish like tetras, rasboras, and dwarf cichlids, but avoid large or aggressive species. These fish do not ship individually bagged.
