Description
The Parosphromenus sp. "Sentang" , also known as the Green Speckled Licorice Gourami, is a captivating freshwater fish native to the blackwater habitats of Indonesia, particularly the Jambi province in central Sumatra. They are believed to be found in the Sentang river, a tributary of the Lalang system. These tiny fish, reaching only about 1.5 inches in length, thrive in the lazy, acidic blackwaters of heavily vegetated swamps and coastal lowlands. For successful aquarium keeping, it is crucial to replicate their natural environment. Provide a small, heavily planted tank with plenty of shadowy hiding spots and dim lighting, as they dislike bright, direct light. Maintaining a low pH, preferably between 3.5 and 6.5, is essential. Adding peat or almond leaves can help achieve the desired blackwater conditions and provide natural hiding places. Parosphromenus sp. "Sentang" are peaceful and shy, and while they feed on small crustaceans and invertebrates in the wild, baby brine shrimp are a favorite food. These fascinating fish are a rewarding addition to a carefully crafted, species-specific nano tank. This fish ships individually bagged, one fish per bag.
